The British Titanic Society Is Coming Back to Cobh in 2026

Big news for history buffs and Titanic enthusiasts — the British Titanic Society has officially announced that it will host its 2026 Annual Convention right here in Cobh, County Cork.

This isn’t the first time Cobh has welcomed the Society. In fact, their 2022 convention (which celebrated their 35th anniversary) was such a success — packed with lectures, walking tours, and moving tributes — that they’ve chosen to return in 2026. And honestly, it’s hard to imagine a more meaningful place.

A Deep Connection to Titanic History

Back in 1912, Cobh — known then as Queenstown — was the last port of call for the RMS Titanic before its fateful journey across the Atlantic. On April 11th, 123 passengers boarded the ship from this very harbour. Some were emigrating in search of a new life, others traveling for business or family — all unaware of the tragedy that lay ahead.

That legacy is still felt here today, and it makes Cobh a powerful place of remembrance.

What to Expect in 2026

The convention is set to attract Titanic enthusiasts from across the globe. Attendees can look forward to:

  • Talks from historians and experts
  • Guided tours around historic sites in Cobh
  • Special memorial events to honour the lives lost

And of course, there will be plenty of time to explore the town, enjoy the local food scene, and soak in the harbour views.

A Boost for Local Tourism

With visitors flying in from the UK, Europe, and beyond, the convention is also expected to provide a welcome boost for local businesses, accommodation providers, and attractions. It’s another reminder of how Cobh’s unique history continues to shape its future.

Until Then…

Whether you’re a local or just planning a trip to Ireland, Cobh is always worth a visit. And in 2026, it’ll be a must.
