Profile
Fota Wildlife Park: Conservation in Action
Nestled in the rolling parklands on the scenic Fota Island in Cork Harbour, Fota Wildlife Park is not just one of Ireland’s most popular visitor attractions—its vision is to inspire people to understand and conserve the biodiversity of our natural world. As well as being a top wildlife attraction for visitors, Fota Wildlife Park is renowned for its successful endangered species breeding and reintroduction programmes.
A Unique Visitor Experience
Fota Wildlife Park offers an open and immersive wildlife experience. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the sprawling African Savannah, followed by the renowned cheetah run and the bison and lechwe paddock.
One of the Park’s most striking features is its free-roaming species, including ring-tailed lemurs, maras, wallabies, and Eastern grey kangaroos, which can be observed as they move freely within the 100-acre Park.
The Asian Sanctuary is a dedicated area for Asian lions, Sumatran tigers, Indian rhinos, and red pandas—all species facing critical threats in their native habitats.
Fota Wildlife Park is open year-round, closing only on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and St. Stephen’s Day.
