Join us for an exclusive Guitar Accompaniment Masterclass led by the professional tutor and performer Jim Carroll. This workshop is a key highlight of the Cobh Trad Fest 2026, delivered in partnership with the Cork ETB School of Music to provide high-level professional instruction.

About the Instructor Jim Carroll is a highly experienced guitar tutor and performer from Passage West, Co. Cork. Having studied at the Cork School of Music and the London College of Music, he holds diplomas in both Guitar Teaching and Performance (Dip LCM). Jim has over a decade of experience teaching traditional guitar to students of all ages through Douglas Comhaltas and Club Ceol Ballyphehane. He currently provides outreach programs in community music with the Cork City ETB and serves as a Traditional Guitar Accompanist with the Cork County School of Music. As a working musician for over four decades, Jim has performed at prestigious venues such as University Concert Hall Limerick and Cork City Hall. He also brings a deep technical background to his music, having served as the Senior House Engineer in Sulan Studios.

Player Suitability & Skill Level

• Level: Intermediate to Advanced.
• Requirements: Participants should have mastered the fundamentals of their instrument and be able to competently play or accompany traditional tune types, such as jigs and reels.
• Note: These classes are not suitable for complete beginners.

The Schedule – Saturday, 25th July 2026

• 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Masterclass Instructional Session (Includes a 15-minute tea and coffee break).
• 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Break for Lunch.
• 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Workshop Showcase Performance at Cobh Library—All participants are invited to perform.
