Fiddle Masterclass with Liam Flanagan

Join us for an exclusive Fiddle Masterclass led by the acclaimed traditional musician Liam Flanagan. This workshop is a key highlight of the Cobh Trad Fest 2026, delivered in partnership with the Cork ETB School of Music to provide high-level professional instruction.

About the Instructor Originally from Charleville, Co. Cork, Liam Flanagan is a highly respected fiddle player who developed his craft under the guidance of Con Herbert and Gary Shannon. A veteran performer and educator, Liam has toured extensively across Europe and the USA with iconic groups such as Danú, North Cregg, and Derek Hickey. You may also recognize him from his numerous television and radio appearances on programs like Geantraí, Bosca Ceoil, Hup, and Port.

Player Suitability & Skill Level

• Level: Intermediate to Advanced.
• Requirements: Participants should have mastered the fundamentals of their instrument and be able to competently play traditional tune types, such as jigs and reels.
• Note: These classes are not suitable for complete beginners.

The Schedule – Saturday, 25th July 2026

• 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Masterclass Instructional Session (Includes a 15-minute tea and coffee break).
• 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Break for Lunch.
• 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Workshop Showcase Performance at Cobh Library—All participants are invited to perform.
