Profile
Saint Colman’s Cathedral, one of Cobh’s most recognisable landmarks, is a magnificent example of neo-Gothic architecture. During your visit, admire its intricate roof details, stunning stained glass windows, and exquisite wood carvings.
Completed in 1919, the cathedral has dominated Cobh’s skyline for over a century. Perched along the Cork coastline, it offers breathtaking views of Cork Harbour and the Atlantic Ocean, making it one of Ireland’s most picturesque churches. Today, it remains an active place of worship and frequently hosts musical recitals with choirs from across the globe.
The cathedral boasts a towering 100 – metre spire and a carillon of 49 bells – one of the largest in Europe. Be sure to listen for its iconic Sunday chimes and special performances. For photographers, capturing the cathedral framed by Cobh’s famous colourful houses is a must—a timeless shot that defines the town’s charm.
